Entry count
In the Journal menu the number of entries is displayed to the right of each journal name.
General Journal
My Ching has a special default journal named General that cannot be deleted or renamed. Some people might prefer to keep all their readings in this journal. You can still search your readings according to topic by tagging each reading with a search keyword in the notes. We suggest making the keyword a heading.
Creating
To add a new journal select New Journal from the Journals menu. A box will appear prompting you for a name. It has a check-box to indicate if you wish the journal to be encrypted or not. See Privacy Protection below By default it is unchecked.
Deleting
To delete a journal first select it in the journal menu, then select Delete from the submenu.
Manage <journal name> journal
A confirmation prompt will appear. Note that the default General journal cannot be deleted.
Renaming
To rename a journal first select it in the journal menu, then select Rename from the submenu
Manage <journal name> journal
Note that the default General journal cannot be renamed.
Making Backups
To guard against the possibility that your hard disk might suffer a catastrophic failure, we recommend that you use the backup feature from time to time. This allows you to save all your journals in a single data file that can be copied on to a USB memory stick or uploaded to cloud storage for safe keeping.

Backup menu
The backup menu has just two entries
Backup all journals Restore journals
The latter entry replaces all My Ching journals with the ones in a backup file. A file dialog enables you select which backup file you want to restore.
For Professionals
If you are a professional I Ching reader with a lot of clients we recommend keeping separate sets of journals using the backup feature. This will prevent the journal menu from becoming too full. You can name each backup set with the client's name.
Making Private
You can choose to password protect any journal by selecting Make Private from the submenu.
Manage <journal name> journal
This encrypts the journal using 128 bit AES encryption.

Encrypted journals require a password to access, and have a little lock symbol displayed in the search tab to the left of the title. Also journal entries that are encrypted, have the same lock symbol displayed in the entry tab.
